Linkin Park - The Little Things Give You Away- |
|
|
Well, it's been a long time since I started posting on this thing, and over the last few years, sadly, I've begun posting less and less frequently, as have everyone else on here that made it worth while. I will try and keep an eye on this from time to time, to see if anything new should pop up, but I won't be posting on here anymore, after tonight. Though I have no intention of ceasing to write out posts, I will simply no longer be doing so on here. From now on I will be making all of my posts on my personal web page ( CLICK).
I will keep a link to this page on that site, so as to be able to come back and look through these old entries, should any soul feel the need to torture themselves. On my site, where all my new posts will be located (and don't worry, for those few of you who want to bug me, you can still comment on there as well) I hope to post more frequently than I have of late, and to write more than just simple journal entries. I plan to 'blog' (as it were) about any subject that I feel the urge to write about, so there's hopefully something to look forward to.
Well, I think that about wraps it up, so for the last time on DJ, Over and... Out.

Three Days Grace- |
|
|
|
I haven't really posted on this thing in quite some time, not specifically sure why, but on a guess I'd have to say that I just never felt there was much to tell. I had decided about a week ago that I was going to do another, some-what annual, "State of Me" or "Account of who I am" or whatever it is I'm calling it these days, but then sometime over the last week I stopped caring.
Moving on from there, things are pretty much same old, same old. Not really over much going on outside of school. Speaking of school, it's really begun to get on my nerves. We aren't getting the classes we need, I can't go somewhere else because the credits won't transfer and I'm too far along in the program anyway. There is a new department head there now though and she seems to really want to try and fix things, so we'll see how things are in a quarter or two.
I was hired by a fellow classmate to build his website for him and his photography business that he runs himself. I finished it a few weeks back, but I am unfortunately still waiting to receive payment for it, and that's starting to get on my nerves as well. I really would like to get my $200.
I've been home a couple times in the last about month, last week I was there for almost a week, but I had to come back to Indy for class. I will most likely be back there again in about two weeks or so. I've really begun to hate having to come back to Indy whenever I'm back home, I'd just like to stay there.
Outside of class I've just been hanging out with my friends when I can, killing time on Guild Wars from time to time, playing poker, and for the most part paying a lot of attention to football. College mainly, as always, but I'm in three fantasy football leagues this year, a bit much, so I've been keeping a close eye on the NFL as well. I've also been reading a lot again over the last couple weeks, and that's been nice. Started drawing a little bit again as well. Both on the computer and pencil & paper.
Not overly a whole lot else I can think about beyond that. School's been rough, but I'm pushing along. Life's going slow, but I'm keeping up (heh). Kind of disappointed in Ohio State so far, but you can't win 'em all. Actually the same goes for The Browns too, hmm. I'll just be happy when this quarter is over, though we say that every quarter.
Oh yeah, I did get new shoes yesterday, so yay to that. Out.

Lately as I have been updating my various sites, I have begun to think about one of the main reasons I started Intoxicated Computer and I decided that I wanted to begin work on the comic strip again, though we shall see how far I actually get I guess.
I just finished reinstalling Photoshop and the drivers for my Wacom tablet on my desktop so as to further attempt to actually do it this time. I've also been working heavily on new sketch designs of the characters, I just wasn't happy with what I had anymore. So far I've only gotten to work on the Kris character, and I've think I've just come to a design I like. It is hard for me to do this because I have been working on trying to make a more stylized version of the characters, and with some help from some of the guys at school I'm getting there. Next I need to work on doing the Josh character and then maybe some others. I don't know yet if I'm going to rework the computer for the comics as well or just leave it, I really think it's fine as is so I'll probably leave it alone.
I think that's about it for now, I just wanted to make a small update since I've also decided that I really need to start posting on here more often, it's really nice sometimes to just write things out on here. I think I may also do another "An Account of Who I am...", the first can be found here. I wrote just shy of three years ago and I felt after reading it earlier that I needed to update, because things have changed a lot since then.
Later.
P.S. So I'm going to be 24 in about a week and a half... Wow.
Out.

Dillon Dixon: Open To Me- |

About half way through the quarter at school, and so far everything is going well. Classes are good, the people are fun, same old, same old. Besides that I've been killing time outside of class watching season one of Torchwood. I've gotten all through that so now I've started with season one of Doctor Who. Neither of them were necessarily shows that I was overly interested in, more something Robert liked and I would catch here and there, but for the sake of killing time I decided to watch them anyway. They have some very interesting people on them, meaning both actors and characters alike.
This morning I woke up early again so Robert and I could go see a movie, for I think the forth week in a row. The first week we saw 21. It was entertaining, pretty good movie, we liked it. The next week we 'enjoyed' Street Kings, again, another interesting movie, wasn't bad, about as predictable as most movies are these days. Last week was a good one, a movie we'd been waiting to see for sometime, Forgetting Sarah Marshall. We both really liked this movie, it was funny as hell, plus the obligatory penis shots for the ladies. But hey, just about anything with Kristen Bell in it is totally worth it. So that brings us to today. This morning Robert and I saw Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay. Once again, hilarious, a pot head's dream more or less. Some hot girls and some funny ass shit happening to two of the most unluckiest guys on the planet. Thank god Neil Patrick Harris is there to help them. I have to say the scene where they smoke some joints with President Bush (laced with coke no less) was fucking great. There were even a few deaths (gasp), including one very funny, but completely unexpected death. Seriously you won't see this coming, even I was completely surprised. Though if you've really been paying attention in reading this post, you should actually be able to figure it out.
Here shortly, when Seymour gets home from work, we will be leaving to head back to Ohio for the weekend to help my cousins move into their new place. Hopefully we'll get some time tomorrow to hang out with Josh Adams who's finally back in town from Denver for the past few years on his mission. I think that's about it.
Later.
P.S. So my birthday is two weeks from today, I'll be 24. Wow, 24. Honestly I have to say I'm a bit amazed. It seems like just yesterday that 24 seemed like a number so far away. It's all going so fast, too fast I think. Oh well that's it for now.
Out.

If you're reading this on my actual deadjournal site and not from a friends page, you'll notice I updated the layout again, I felt it was time. I recently updated the layout on my personal homepage a few weeks ago as well, and I usually keep this and my site somehow visually connected.
Outside of that, nothing really new to talk about, school is school and everything else is life.

I know it's been a while since I posted on here, I guess I should really try and get on here more, it would probably be good to just write shit out sometimes. So what's new since that last post...?
Nothing really eventful in life to really talk about right now, the last few months have just mainly been trying not to go crazy at school. I am just so fucking happy for this quarter to finally be over. The classes weren't entirely bad or anything, it's just been on of those hellish times. I had to do a lot of costly print work for my Electronic Design class, which is learning Adobe InDesign. It's a good program, I like it and I was able to produce some nice things, but I think I'll stick with web design.
I got about $1,500 from the left over balance from my loans last fiscal year at school and used that to buy/upgrade my Adobe programs with the new CS3 Web Premium suite and the new Leopard MacOSX. I love the new MacOSX and Adobe suite, they run so much better than before. I also bought a new monitor and it is fucking sweet, I love it. I also had to spend about that much money on my car, do to shit happening it; like a pot-hole bending my rim and having to get it replaced. The thing before that was way worse... Fucking snow. Bought the new Super Smash Bros. Brawl as well, awesome game.
What else...? We have been having weekly poker games on Saturday for the last few weeks and that's been going well, we have fun with it, but so far it's just been Robert, Joshua and myself. So last Saturday was my friend Greg's birthday party and I brought Joshua along with me. By the way, I'd like to take this moment to mention how FUCKING horrible the roads are in Indianapolis and how God awful a job that city does taking care of pot-holes.
So Joshua and I are on our way to the party, the whole time I'm bitching about the pot-holes and when I get about a block away from Greg's house I hit one. Now it's dark at this time, but it's hard enough to see these fuckers on Michigan Rd as it is. So we hit this pot-hole and the next thing we hear is the flopping of a flat tire, which I found out a couple days later that it was actually a bent rim, not just a blown tire.
Moving on, we got to the party and had a good time. Joshua ended up leaving before me because he wasn't feeling well, so I got a ride home the next morning. The party was great; drinks, games and friends, lots of laughs all around. I ended up getting fairly trashed, but that was planned anyway. I know for a fact that Ben Dean and I (with the help of 2 or 3 others from time to time) tore threw two bottles of Jägermeister and then later on after Dean left, Roy and I finished off the entire bottle of Skyy that I had brought.
There was Wii the back room too, I played a little bit of Smash Bros Brawl, but I was more interested in hanging out with the people out in the party than playing the Wii, weird right? Anyway it was a great night, even when we got to the really deep conversations, great night.
When we all finally did burn out, I crashed on the couch in the living room. Well in the next room over, divided by only a curtain, another guy and his girlfriend were staying the night as well. Next thing I know I'm hearing moaning from in there for about 20-30 minutes followed by her moaning out his name. Another ten minutes of laughing, from both rooms, ensues followed by about five minutes of him apologizing and telling me I'm his new best friend. It was all pretty fuckin' funny.
So the last week after the party was pretty much me just holding my breath until the quarter ended, while at the same time trying to get everything done for finals AND getting my rim replaced. I spent a lot of time getting my final project for Electronic Design finished Wednesday night. Everyone in class seemed to like it so that made me happy, especially after all the fucking time I spent on the damn thing. So Thursday night after Dean's class we all went over to Greg's again and hung out for a while. We played Rock Band for about the first half of the night and that was actually pretty damn fun. I was there until about 4AM, mainly because Dean got pretty fucked up and I wanted to make sure he was okay and didn't do anything to get his ass in trouble.
So now I'm back home for the week, until March 31st. Nancy is here for a few days for Easter and mom also has a couple more new house guests for a few weeks as well. I'm kind of disappointed because the basement is half flooded so I can't play on my pool table, I was actually really looking forward to that, but oh well, I guess I can always go to the bar sometime. I've been planning on redoing my website again while I'm home this week, so I've started in on that a bit, doing some stuff in Flash.
Well I think that's about it. I'll try to post on this thing more often, I really should, but that's it for now. Laters.

Lets see, can I remember where it all started? Hmm.
A while back a friend of Robert's and mine, Chris, asked us if we could help him move to New York. This entailed packing up his apartment, driving over to New York in the moving truck with him, unloading the truck at the new apartment in NY and then flying home the next day. Nothing too hard, right? A nice 16-20 hour drive depending on breaks, next day unload, next day fly home. Simple. Robert also chronicled the trip from his perspective here.
Okay, so here's how it really went. Friday we started helping pack up, we got almost everything done that night, before Robert and I stopped over at Adriane's Boyfriend Mark's house for a party they were throwing for him before he gets shipped back off to Iraq. It was a fun time, I had a blast, Robert was the pimp as usual. ;)
Saturday morning we got everything else packed up on the truck (which had only two seats, never seen a moving truck with bucket seats before) and hit the road. Now we didn't leave when we originally planned to, we ended up leaving a couple hours later, but no biggie. Oh and I had to sit in the middle on a wooden kitchen chair, that was fun.
The first three hours were great, we had a blast, fun times. Once we got into Columbus we had to refill the gas tank, so we also stopped by mom's for a bit of a break and lunch. We ended up staying there for about two hours, I finished changing the water filters in the basement, Robert and Chris took a nap.
Once we were ready to go, mom and I did our annual Christmas tree trip tradition (she had gotten a tree that morning by herself since I couldn't be there) and sang the Twelve Days of Christmas Muppets version. Then we set out again and headed to Chris's grandparents' house in Pennsylvania. Again, everything going well, fun times.
We got to his grandparents' house, had a very nice home cooked meal, it was great, reminded me of having dinner at Annie's grandma's. His grandparents were very nice people, but I think he's too hard on them sometimes, I don't know. We got to watch a couple football games, that by the end of them had managed to completely fuck up the entire BCS standings.
After we left Chris's grandparents' Chris drove for a bit longer but was obviously starting to fall asleep, so I took over driving from there. I drove for a couple hours before we had to stop and get gas again, and then it happened. Turning into the gas station/truck stop I clipped the curb and gashed the back right tire. So we waited four hours for someone to come and replace the tire, luckily it didn't end up costing anything. Robert also made mention of this here.
At this point it's about 6:00 AM, about 21 hours after we first left Indianapolis. Chris once again drove for a short time, but he fell sleep twice and almost went off the road one of those times, so I made him stop and I drove the entire rest of the way through PA, also at this point I'm the only one of the three that hasn't slept. Four hours later, we make it to NY, we get Chris's car from the airport, stop at the gas station and got some food. Then, THEN, we finally got to Chris's new apartment, hot damn!
We unloaded a few boxes and some random shit from the truck and then we all laid down and took a nap. After not having slept since about 7 AM the day before, I was out! About five hours later we ate some pizza and continued unloading the truck, until it started to freezing rain, so we had to stop, yet another set back. We got most of the big stuff out before we had to stop though, so it wasn't all bad. That night we all slept on the floors and in the morning we finished unloading the truck and then took it back, then heading back to the apartment to change and head to the airport. Long story short we couldn't take the flight because we didn't have nice enough shoes to be "Business Casual" for the dress code they have for buddy passes. So we stayed at Chris's one more night. We ended up going out to dinner with a couple girls that work with Chris because one of them thought Robert was cute. Unfortunately Robert was having a hard time so nothing really worked out so we just went back to the apartment and crashed.
Enter Tuesday morning, we got up at 4:30 AM to make our new flight, we had bought new shoes Monday night on the way home, and got over to the airport. The plane took off at 6 AM, stopped at Atlanta for an hour then left for Indy. We actually ended up getting in a little early, so that was nice. On the first flight we got to sit up in first class, or "Business Class" whatever the hell they want to call it to be politically correct or some bullshit. Got to see Robert's first time on a plane, he particularly "enjoyed" the first landing, I guess he expected something a little more subtle? So now we're back in Indy. It was an interesting weekend, definitely something different and out of the norm.
I think that's about it for now. Ohio State vs. LSU in the National Championship game, should hopefully be a good one. Though honestly I don't believe LSU deserves to be there. I'd love to see OSU against Hawaii personally. There are significant parts of the story which I chose to omit, mainly in and around the dinner at Fridays, that I felt were just better left alone. Oh well, that's all for now, fun times!

Exactly two weeks ago today I bought Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Well last Friday, before heading back home for the weekend, I finished the game with about 15.5 hours total play time, with 100% of all the upgrades acquired, of course. The game was very good, very well done and very fun to play. The new control system on the Wii with the Wiimote was great, it made the game much more fun to control and shoot at shit.
Over all, great game, I may play back through it again on the next level difficulty. I guess the only thing that could be said for it that might be negative is that it is rather shorter than the previous two games, in my humble opinion anyway.

Queens of the Stone Age - Never Say Never- |

Yesterday Joshua, Amanda and I attended Projekt Revolution 2007 out here in Indy. The show was great and I also got to meet LP themselves during the LPU Meet & Greet. Got them to sign some of my LP artwork that I did for a couple classes last quarter, which can be seen here.
I can't say the entire line-up was the greatest, but the over all show was great; Julien-K, Placebo and HIM were all great, I missed Taking Back Sunday and My Chemical Romance while waiting for the LPU Meet & Greet, but I'm not shedding any tears about that. The only band I caught on the second stage (or The Revolution stage as they called it) was Mindless Self Indulgence, who weren't too bad. Though I would have liked to see Styles of Beyond, they went on stage before I got there.
Of course in the end no one could out do Linkin Park's performance, they were awesome. Chester especially kept commenting on how great the crowd was and that it was the loudest and best of the tour, bs or no, it's still nice to hear. They were right about the crowd being loud and great though, that had to be the most worked up and fun crowd I've ever been in @ a concert, it was great.
